Do Not Increase Volume Based Solely on Revenue
The first shipment has been delivered, and the foreign buyer is requesting double the volume.
Before confirming, verify whether the transaction is reproducible: have the settlements been completed?
Has the product been accepted?
Are the goods and team resources available?
The proposed procedure is an internal management review.
It does not guarantee the buyer’s solvency and does not replace the need to verify requirements for a new product, route, or payment terms.
Set a date for the decision on the repeat order and a list of information to be obtained before that date.
Keep open issues from the first shipment separate from negotiations about the next one.
Does the buyer want to increase purchases of Russian products?
I will help you collect the statuses of the first shipment and requests to the supplier, coordinate the participants, and prepare data for your company’s decision-making.
Discuss your taskVerify Four Groups of Confirmations
Payment: what has been received, what is still expected, and whether there are any withholdings or disputed amounts.
Quality: what acceptance documents have been received, what claims are open, and who is reviewing them.
Execution: what deadlines have been confirmed by fact and which operations required unplanned work.
Resources: what is needed for the new volume regarding the product, packaging, financing, and staff.
Do not treat the absence of a complaint as proof of acceptance.
Ask the responsible person to confirm the status as stipulated in the contract and the parties’ working procedures.
Calculate the Load for the Next Volume
Hypothetical example: the first shipment of 20 tons required 10 hours of fixed preparation and 0.5 hours per ton of conditional variable work.
Total: 20 hours (10 + 20 × 0.5).
For a 40-ton shipment under the same assumptions, it will be 30 hours, not 40 (10 + 40 × 0.5).
This is a model that must be replaced with observations from your own team.
If the new volume requires an additional shift, inspection, or a different transportation format, the previous dependency may no longer apply.
Costs and deadlines should be verified with the performers, not automatically extended based on prior calculations.
Separately, show the cash gap: when payment for the goods and services is due and when revenue from the buyer is expected.
Revenue does not prove the availability of free funds for procurement.
Prepare a Decision on the Increase
The manager can confirm the entire volume, agree to a smaller batch, or postpone the decision until specific issues are resolved.
For each option, specify the conditions and the date for re-review.
If the product, recipient, market, or payment scheme changes, note this as a new circumstance.
A successful first delivery does not confirm that previous documents and restrictions apply to another transaction.
Provide the buyer with only a feasible offer with a validity period.
The company’s internal plan is not a binding agreement for the second party.
Use the Outcome for the Next Cycle
Document which operations can be repeated, which require correction, and what confirmation is expected from each participant.
This way, the repeat order starts with known conditions rather than relying on the manager’s memory.
Related material — costs of serving the buyer.
It helps verify the economics of the operation, while a decision on a new volume additionally requires goods, money, and resources.

Examples are hypothetical.
Authority, contractual terms and mandatory procedures must be checked for the specific transaction; overseas guidance does not establish Russian legal requirements.
